Report Date:       07/31/2000
Project Notebook:  http://web.mit.edu/is/delivery/enterprint/
Accomplishments for the past period:
- held follow-up conference call with IBM reps re kerberizing IPM;
  determined that IPM web browser will support SSL and handle operator
  tasks
- spoke with potential IS resources for kerberizing IPM Mac client
- established that software contract for IPM will not be needed
- installed a new IBM 3160 printer in W91 to replace the 3827;
  successfully tested desktop browser Postscript output on this printer
- completed final edit of the current service business model document
- researched use of DCE to provide the required Kerberos support
- resolved operator & administrator access by deciding on the
  Windows client interface
- ordered Windows desktop for operator use
Goals for the coming period:
- "figure out" DCE on AIX at MIT for IPM
- compile requirements for Web interface for:
   - end users
   - support staff
   - operators
- order hardware and software (carry over)
- research answers to questions raised by FSS and R3-Admin (carry over)
- develop detailed service and support plan first drafts
- complete the detailed phased rollout plan
- create initial draft of the Business Model for the new service
- work with ITIT to "ratify" the proposed security position paper
  (carry over)
- update project's WBS (carry over)
Issues:
 Vacations hurt our progress during this reporting period. We have
 missed our 8/1 target for the Phase 1 rollout. This slippage will not
 affect the customers. However, we will really need to make significant
 progress this month to insure the availability of the new service
 in September for CAO's use. We'd previously announced the availability
 of large volume Postscript printing by 9/1. It will be very difficult
 to make the 9/1 date.
