Hi Lynne,

I'm at
https://pillage.mit.edu/jobs/print_jobs.html
now and my list seems to come up empty no matter what I do, as it was yesterday afternoon.

I just found that I could click on 'Retained Jobs' (which I don't think Mike had when he went to Pillage) and see some history. I found Mike's two requests to EP1 (automated refreshes made this more difficult).

When we met in August we touched upon 'Local Support' needs for CAOTech to better support IPM users. Have y'all come up with any strategies, issues, or goals in this regard? Is it possible to give CAOTech members access to Retain Jobs for CAO queues? In Moira APS admin rights are implemented by giving members of the list CAOPrint (currently == CAOTech) ACLs to all CAO queues. EP1 might not quite fit that model but if it's just access to Retained Jobs perhaps it's close enough :)

I tried Owner=mbryan in 'Retained Jobs' and got a null list. I couldn't seem to undo that filter and get back to a full list except by going to another URL and then going Pillage again. Is there method to undo a filter? I also tried Destination=ep1 and got a null report with that too...

I'm making the following notes as an aid to myself so I can use the filters in the future. Value lists would be helpful, esp. for new/occasional users.

Name: is a document name such as "NewText Document.txt - Notepad", IPRR4MST.PDF, or "SAP-SF2 tregan/000OuIfB.SF2"

Owner: is an MIT Username (aka Kerberos Principle)

State: can have values 'Retained' and 'Resubmit' in the Retained report. What are the values in the Print Jobs report?

Destination: is a print queue name such as 'ep1' or 'glmp'

Can wild characters be used in these filter values? Say, Name=*SF2*?

A note about 'Name'; it would appear that when EP12 is used the 'Name' is displaced by the string '(lpr_filter)'. Any way the real name could be preserved?

Is there any chance these reports could include some measure of the size of a print request? Pages might be nice but raw bytes would probably be much more doable :)

I also just tested two printouts from SAP (SF2 & PS1, Simplex & Duplex) and will check the output later this morning. I'm preparing an update to the EP1 & EP12 SAP Spool Device descriptions which specifies IPM in place of AFS.

Thanks,
Bil
I tried to call Mike, but he was not there.
Since this printer is postscript, and is not requiring setup for print jobs, changing paper, settings etc, the jobs going to this printer will not be held, but will simply be "passing through" IPM and going directly to the printer. So if it is a relatively small print job, by the time the job is submitted and the web page is accessed the job will have come and gone and will not appear on the print jobs page.

If several jobs, or a very large job is submitted, the job will remain on the print jobs page longer and will be visible while it is still printing.

Bil, at the moment you have more privileges on the web pages than just end user access, you can see the retained jobs page, if you look there the job should be viewable there, after it has printed.

Hope this helps.
