Hi Everyone,
As some of you know by now, Jeff Banta from IBM dropped off in W91 his AIX
printserver and a PSF laserprinter which we can use to test Info Print
Manager. He gave me a brief overview of the product and I am favorably
impressed. Our task is now to put it through its paces. Unfortunately
I have been busy both giving and receiving reviews and dealing with my
other project (the Environmental Health and Safety System Team) and I
have not been able to go through the documentation. I expect to get to
this on Monday. Then Mike and I can begin to test this software product
properly.
Here are some of our anticipated tasks:
- Get a remote client up an running in E40 (preferably a Unix client).
- Add an ethernet connection to the IP60 printer in E19 (Dave will handle this)
- Test the server's basic ability to handle print directed to the (borrowed)
IBM laser printer, the HP laserjet in W91-230, and the IP60 in E19
- Test the server's ability to handle conversions.
- Test the server's user friendliness.
Well, that's what I recall from my conversation with Mike Thursday. Mike
please reply and add any items that I left out.
Rocklyn
P.S. I have a To Do item in my Palm Pilot that says check out I-DATA. I
think I was supposed to contact them about something at one point, but
I can no longer remember what. Would someone please refresh my memory?
