Announcing: Solidarity Summer 2001 Workshop #1

Kick-off WORKSHOP! Building Student-Labor Coalitions
Case study #1: The Emerson Underground Youth Movement
How students helped bring together part-time faculty into a union
Case study #2; the Harvard Living Wage Campaign
How students, unions, and workers took on the richest university in the
world! newly released sit-in video will be screened!
Come talk to workers, students, and faculty about coalition building!
and come talk about how youth activists in Boston can work together!
Community Church of Boston, 565 Boyleston St, Copley Square
7:00 pm, Thursday July 5

Update: Our first Action in support of striking janitors was a success!
About 25 students and janitors attended our first action to show support
for janitors trying to unionize in Balitmore who work for Boston
Properties. The janitors are paid poverty level wages with no full-time
work and few benefits. Students managed to sneak around police into a
Boston Properties office building to drop a banner and rally briefly
inside! After getting thrown out the protest moved outside to picket
and leaflet as tenants left work. Drawing news coverage and interest
from the office tenants we put pressure on Boston Properties to do the
right thing.

SOLIDARITY SUMMER:
