HAVE FUN, HELP DEFEAT DOMA AND PASS DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP LEGISLATION
AT AIDS WALK BOSTON THIS WEEKEND
With just one or two hours on Sunday morning, you can help us send a
strong message to legislators about two important bills.
Over 12,000 people are expected to participate in AIDS Walk Boston
this Sunday, June 3. Having all these people in one place at one
time presents us with a great opportunity to collect signatures on
postcards to legislators. We need your help to maximize our efforts.
You can have fun while going through the crowd talking to people
about pending legislation and collecting signatures on pre-printed
postcards.
Your task will be easy. You will meet with other volunteers at 9:00
AM (on the Beacon Street side of the Arthur Fiedler footbridge), pick
up a clipboard and postcards, spend 10-15 minutes learning how to
approach strangers and answer questions, then disperse through the
crowd to collect signatures. If you're planning to walk, you can
even collect signatures along the route.
Please respond to this message if you can help so that we can have
enough clipboards ready. Your help will make a big difference. Just
think, if only ten people collect only fifty signatures each, we'll
have 500 postcards to send to legislators. So, please sign up and
ask your friends to help too.
Look for an e-mail message next week about helping collect signatures
at Boston Pride and don't forget our Town Meeting on Wednesday, June
6.
