In this session we will discuss Sukta 10 of Mandal 10 of Rig Veda. The life
situation that Rig Veda reflects has patriarchy quite well established,
but strong undercurrents of a bygone era-Istri Yuga(age of women) are quite
pervasive in society.The gender relations of this bygone age still continue
in the subaltern layer of society, as they continue to this day in certain
parts of South Asia and certain sections of society. Sukta 10 of Mandal 10
reflects remnants of this bygone era.
