How often do we get to support Frito Lay? Looks like this will be a rare
moment, but support is definitely needed to fend off even bigger sharks,
i.e. the biotech/agribusiness giants. My own letter below.
Heads up: I ordered 25 anti-Monsanto shirts today; they will be sold at
a discounted $12 per.

Subject: We need 1000 calls or emails today!
PLEASE SPREAD THIS FAR AND WIDE:
FRITO-LAY has announced it would no longer use genetically engineered corn
in its produces. THIS IS THE START OF SOMETHING BIG. The biotech giants
have started a campaign to pressure Fritos to reverse their decision. If
Fritos holds to their commitment, this may very well be the start of the
downfall of genetically engineered foods in America.
FRITOS IS CAREFULLY WATCHING THE CONSUMER RESPONSE.
PLEASE send them an email <consumer.affairs@fritolay.com>
or call them 1-800-352-4477 (ask for operator 100)
Tell them you applaud their decision.
Tell them that you do NOT want to eat foods that have been genetically
engineered to act as an insecticide.
Tell them that you don't believe that genetically engineered food
is safe for consumer or environmental health and you commend the
direction they are taking. And that it would be a big
disappointment if they cave in and reverse their decision.
Tell them that now they should go certified organic!!

Subject:Applause for GE-free food!
--------
Dear Frito-Lay Decision-Makers,
As a citizen concerned about what goes into our food, I must applaud
your decision to no longer use genetically engineered food in your
line of products! It is indeed a bold move, sending a message backed
by the increasing awareness and support from the public: genetically
engineered foods are different--- we don't know exactly what they'll
do--- but we do know that the experiments to determine its safety
should not be done on the public!
The makers of GE-crops didn't predict that monarch butterflies would
die from their crops nor could they compensate once they observed the
phenonmenon. What if some time down the road, humans begin to
develop certain disease? Would companies like Monsanto be held
responsible or would the accountability fall of food companies that
chose to use these manipulated crops?
The whole debate surrounding GE-foods is just too murky. And in such
cases, the precautionary principle applies: until GE-foods can be
proven to be safe for consumption and for the environment, it has no
place in our everyday diets nor on American farms!
Thank you for efforts to protect consumer interests,
Sincerely,
Felix AuYeung
