Hey everybody! Here's an update on the Charles River cleanup:
I talked to Brennon Staley (brennon_staley@hotmail.com) who is from
MASSPirg and is the local coordinator of the Charles River cleanup, and it
looks like the best place to do the cleanup is near the Anderson Bridge up
at Harvard.
Directions:
The Anderson Bridge is located along Memorial Drive near Harvard. It is
the bridge on which JFK street runs and is just a 5 minute walk south from
Harvard Square which is accessible via bus or the MBTA red line.
The following website shows a map of the area: http://map.harvard.edu/
The Anderson Bridge is the bridge between the JFK School of Government and
the Athletic Facilities.
We will be meeting at the Student Center Steps at 9 sharp, so please be
there. SAVE will probably be able to subsidize transportation as long as
the number of people who show up is less than about 50.
The cleanup starts at 9 am on Saturday, April 21 and goes until noon or
thereabouts. I realize that this is really early for a lot of people, so
feel free to come out and help at any time, but just keep in mind that
you'll have to find you're own way there.
What are the perks?
FREE FOOD!
FREE T-SHIRTS!
and best of all, the self-satisfaction of doing a good-deed and beautifying
the world :)
If you can tentatively come, please contact me so that we can prepare the
appropriate amount of materials.
Thanks again, and have a good one,
