Call to Action, a project of the Rainforest Action Network, is holding a
Conference on the FTAA and Globalization at MIT from April 13 to 15,
this coming Friday to Sunday. There will be speakers, briefs on issues
related to globalization, and workshops on skills needed for political
activism. This will probably be the best time for Boston-area activists
to get together before the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City April
20-22, where the draft text of the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas
(FTAA) will be discussed. The FTAA is a proposal to extend NAFTA to the
entire Hemisphere, although on one (except 500 corporate CEOs) knows the
details since the text has been kept secret.
