A panel discussion on
Sustainable Energy: Issues and Options
MIT Room: 24-121, 11AM, Monday Jan.8, 2000
As part of the one week non-credit survey course "Sustainable Energy: An
Overview", a panel discussion on "Sustainable Energy: Issues and Options"
will
be held on the first day, i.e., January 8, 2000.
Panelists are:
Dr Liz Drake, Energy Lab
Prof M Driscoll, Nuclear Engg.
Prof Michael Golay, Nuclear engg
Dr William Peters, Energy Lab
Prof J F Tester, Energy Lab
The panelists will explore the issues like:
* How can we satisfy the world's energy demands using only
renewable and non-fossil fuel technologies?
* How can mankind's needs be met without permanent degradation of
the overall environment?
All are welcome.
Other lectures in the series will be:
Jan. 9 - Renewable Energy Sources I( Hydro and Solar)
Jan.10 - Sustainability Concepts and Available Options
Jan. 11 - Renewable Energy Sources II ( Wind and Biomass)
Jan. 12 - Nuclear and Fossil Fuels
Format of the class will be as follows:
Lecture 11AM- 11.30AM
Discussion 11.30 - Noon
