Fair Trade Meeting
Tuesday, May 6
12:30 pm
Dome Cafe, Bldg. 7, 4th Floor

A new MIT group, Students for Labor and Economic Justice, will be hosting a
Fair Trade Coffee Break in the Student Center on Saturday, May 17, to coincide
with WORLD FAIR TRADE DAY - and the start of finals. We've contacted several
local Fair Trade coffee companies, who have agreed to come down and provide
FREE coffee and information for our event.

*** We NEED folks to staff the table, help hang posters, etc.***

Please stop by the meeting tomorrow if you'd like to get involved (or write me
an email!) What a perfect issue for anyone concerned about labor,
globalization, trade, equity, sustainability, international development,
poverty, ecology, human rights, social justice...and ACTION.

Next semester we'll be launching a Fair Trade Coffee campaign on campus in
earnest, which will involve holding a series of events to educate students
about Fair Trade, working to build demand for Fair Trade products, and trying
to get Fair Trade coffee offered at all MIT dining establishments.

Some good sites about the coffee crisis and Fair Trade:

hope to see you there,

Jean
