Folks, regarding George Shultz's award and talk on Wed, I don't think we should
just let this pass silently. It would be one thing if Shultz were "honored" at
any old time, but we're at war right now, and he's a war guy.

Below is Dean Philip Khoury's response to my inquiry. As you can see, he merely
lists Shultz's past positions. NOte that in his current position as a fellow at
the highly respected and highly disgusting Hoover Institution, he is a colleague
of such luminaries as Condi Rice, Milton Friedman, Edwin Meese!, Newt Gingrich
and "Lady" Thatcher.

Shall we cause a stink???

dear jeff,

dr. shultz is being honored as an mit alumnus (phd in economics, 1949) for
his contributions to the social sciences, broadly defined, which includes
public policy. he is a former member of the mit economics faculty, a
former member of the university of chicago faculty where he also served as
dean of the business school, and as a practioner as a former secretary of
labor and former secretary of state. most recently, he has been based at
the hoover institution at stanford university where he is a senior fellow.

best,

philip
