THE LEBANESE WAR: The Al-Jazeera Documentary

Zahle and the Indian Summer/Sharon Invades
Synopsis:
The first episode, Zahle and the Indian Summer, discusses the major clash
between the mainly Christian Right wing forces and the Syrian army. Israel is
drawn into the conflict while Syria deploys Sam-6 missiles in the strategic
Beqaa Valley. Washington sends Philip Habib to defuse the situation, but a
flare up continues in southern Lebanon and Northern Israel.
The second episode, Sharon invades, discuses the Israeli massive invasion of
Lebanon in 1982. Philip Habib rushes to the region, while Israeli forces
reach the outskirts of an Arab capital for the first time ever. Bashir
Gemayyel, the Maronite chief leader, launches his bid for the presidency.
