Help with Palestine Awareness Week

Hi Everyone,
Palestine Awareness Week is organized by a network
of groups including SJC, MSA, ASO, and Paksmit. This time around
we are presenting a lobby 10 display of photographs from the
Refugee camps of Sabra and Chatila by Palestinian Rania Matar
and artwork by Samia Halaby and samples from several additional
Palestinian artists. We were still setting up today, but
it should be in full swing tomorrow. We need help staffing
the tables, so do sign up. This is a good chance to meet active
people from other groups that you may not know and a good chance
to learn more about the Palestinian people, a people that was claimed
to not exist (as per the slogan regarding Israel claiming "a land
without a people for a people without a land.") So, consider staffing
if you can find a bit of time, and at the very least, take some time
to check it out.
Also, if you need a bit of inspiration in these difficult times, as
my dancer high-school friend once said, "the fact that people even
bother to continue making art is an act of hope and an act of
resistance." The vast range of peaceful acts of resistance and hope
of Palestinians usually go completely un-noticed in the US.
So, to break it down in simple math:
if (art = resistance) && (resistance = the secret of joy)*, then
coming to the lobby 10 exhibit will bring you joy!

The display is up in lobby 10. The theme is Sabra and Shattilla refuggee
camps
(www.indictsharon.com). We need two volunteers each hour to watch the
display,
hand out flyers and talk to people. Please email me the times you can spend at
the PAW display at lobby 10 this week.
