4:30PM MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH
HUNTINGTON AVE. ACROSS THE STREET FROM
"NORTHEASTERN" GREEN LINE T-STOP
This Monday thousands of janitors will be on strike against UNICCO for
decent wages, heatlh care benefits and more opportunities for full-time
work.
Many take home as little as 39 dollars a day - and that's with no health
care
coverage or job security.
After three months of contract negotiations with cleaning companies like
UNICCO
and Consolidated Services, there has been no real progress. Janitors have
been
left with no other recourse but to strike. The company's proposal includes
a
wage freeze until next year, when janitors will receive a 30 cent increase.

Why Northeastern?
Why Monday?
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
One hundred and fifty janitors covered by the contract clean at
Northeastern University for Consolidated Services. Students and community
members from
all over the city will be meeting there to show their support and
solidarity
for these campus workers.
On Monday evening dozens of other buildings downtown will be going on
strike. From
Northeastern we will march to other sites where janitors will be picketing
outside.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Why go?
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Every person counts. Your active support and presence sends a strong
message to the cleaning companies in this city - abuse of those who work
hard to keep our buildings clean will not be tolerated. Also, this is the
first time janitors in Boston have collectively stood up for their
rights,
dignity and respect. Your support is extremely important for this
monumental occasion.
