Announcing:
Free Concert!
David Rovics and accompaniment
4PM Kresge Oval, MIT (directions*)
Friday, April 19th (THIS WEEK!)
You are invited to a special free concert this Friday in honor of earth
week! David Rovics is an internationally recognized folk singer. He has
been called a modern Pete Seeger. Not only is he an amazing musician, but
his socially conscious lyrics are very inspiring and powerful. "David
Rovics' music gives life and hope in the struggle for peace and justice. He
is an inspiration." -Reverend Roy Bourgeois, founder, SOA Watch. The
concert is sponsored by MIT's graduate student council. The entire
community is encouraged to attend the concert. Please spread the news!
For more on David Rovics, see http://members.aol.com/drovics/home.htm
Also on Friday on the student center steps, are several other exciting
happenings: Abby Popp, another inspiring local folk musician will be
playing. This will probably be at 3:00. All day we will be giving out
FREE PLANTS. There will also be a FREE BIKE REPAIR workshop and
sustainable living workshops. In addition, there will be a wealth of
information related to earth day.
On Thursday the 18th, Professor. Meyer of MIT will be speaking about the
environmental history of the US. He is an excellent speaker and very
knowledgeable on this topic. There will also be food at the talk. It will
be at 7PM in 10-250.
On Saturday the 20th, join us and many others in cleaning up the banks of
the Charles. Meet at 9AM on the student center steps.
On Sunday the 21st, join us for a bike ride and potluck on the emerald
necklace trails in Boston. We will meet at 2PM at 77 Mass ave.
*Directions: Kresge oval is located opposite 77 Massachusetts Ave in
Cambridge. On one side of Mass ave is the main entrance to MIT. On the
other side of the street the large cement building with wide steps is the
student center. The concert and other festivities will be located here or
in the adjacent patch of grass.
Please forward this email widely. The entire community is invited to all
of these festivities.
