The City of Cambridge is a sister city to San Salvador. The community
members who visited the city are back to report what they learned and
to discuss the bonds they built. Also, there will be a commemoration
for Archbishop Romero, killed by School of Americas assassins, along
with a showing of "Enemies of War."

Report-back from El Salvador
Monday, March 20, 7 PM Longfellow School , 359 Broadway (parking
behind 57 Inman Street)

Slides and Remarks from the newly returned delegation of educators,
officials and high school students with the Cambridge El Salvador
Sister City Project.

Nancy Ryan, Rachel Wyon, Kathleen Mallet, Julie Whitman, Hector
Risemberg, Kieran Pearson, Erica Sagrans, Andrew Tai, Cynthia
Orellana, Alex Valdez , Cathy Hoffman spent 10 days over the February
vacation in San Salvador and in San Jose Las Flores meeting with
youth, women, maquila workers, teachers, popular educators and
striking public sector workers.

El Salvador is at the center of the impact of privatization now being
directed at education and health care. The Salvadoran people -
teachers, campesinos, women, students, health care workers, delegates
of the word - are responding with resistance, insight and
collaboration. In the face of new government repression, they need
our help and we need their understanding. Come and hear their
experiences and observations.

If you can not come but would like to make a donation to the
Cambridge-El Salvador Sister City Project, you can write a tax
deductible check to IPC and send it c/o Cambridge Peace Commission, 51
Inman St. Cambridge 02139
