Hi! Here's the text of a few messages concerning a problem with sis
and entry's being modified in moira.
What has happened twice now that we know of, (once in the case
mentioned in the following mail messages, and one was reported to us
by another user) is that a staff person's entry gets modified in moira
and the "secure password set" gets changed so that moira thinks a
secure password is set, and consequently, the user is sent a piece of
paper mail saying they registered for a password, when in fact, they
had not.
If you have any other questions please let me know.
Pam

Hi! I'm wondering something about a couple of things and am hoping
you might have some answers.
In this particular case, a staff person's entry (user "bwmelans") in
moira was modified, and as a result, moira now thinks he registered
for a secure password and he received a paper letter confirming that
he registered for a password, when he had never run the "reg_extra"
program.
Is this suppose to happen that a user receives a letter when they have
never actually run reg_extra?
Thanks,
Pam

No that shouldn't have happened. The code and logic are all in Moira, so thats
probably where this problem should be sent. Take a look and see if the flag is
set (it is something like "secure password set") in moira. I think it might be a
combination of this and the date it happened which triggers the letter.
(Mark R. knows for sure....)
