The same thing happened to me.
Tom and I are clueful, and know the incantations to deal when we have
mail on a po server, but no hesiod. There are likely users who lost
mail and don't even know it.
So, here's a proposed change to moira, which makes it a bugs bug, not
just an operations failure :-) It also adds non-trivial complexity to
moira which I'm sure is hard to deal with, but I'll say it anyway, for
the record.
Moira should notice if any aliases update fails, and if one does,
should not remove from the hesiod databases any pobox records which
might have been supposed to go away, so inc will still work. I
realize that there isn't even any coarse dependency between updates,
and fine-grained dependencies at the record level would be a
completely new thing. But I still think it's a bug :-)
