Moira, Kerberos,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity the explain my side of the
story. I do not believe you should honor daemon's requests.
On the night of Sat, 3 Aug 91 or the morning of Sun, 4 Aug 91, I
sent a short e-mail message to chanh@athena.mit.edu briefly saying that I
would meet him in the late morning. Somehow, due to someone's error, the mail
message was transmitted without a body. I then received a rather rude message
from the daemon of Athena threatening, or "promising", to interfere with my
background processes if I sent any more blank messages. He even claimed to
be chanh@athena.mit.edu's best friend and accused me of bothering chanh.
I then replied, saying that my draft of the letter actually had a body
and that it was not my fault that the letter was blank. I also added that I
was chanh's best friend, and I had chanh notify daemon directly that this was
the case. Therefore, I would have no reason to bother chanh with junk mail.
Despite my explanation, I received another rude notice from daemon,
threatening to erase my workspace and kill the whole server. He even appealed
to Athena@athena.mit.edu, who later sent me equally rude messages. When I
questioned daemon as to what kind of friend of chanh he was to prevent him from
receiving mail (from me), he proceeded to appeal to you to deny me access to my
workspace.
I believe this is enough explanation to convince you to reject daemon's
request. If you do not feel so, I will be happy to go into further detail
given a similarly adequate time to respond. I would also hope that you, Moira,
as overseer of the Athena System, would reprimand daemon and Athena for their
rudeness and take measures to prevent this from occurring to other users.
