Dear folks in the Moiradev group-
I am sorry that my mail was 'really really condescending'. I know
you are all busy people and are doing important work.
I was attempting to avoid the situation that we end up hearing nothing
as has sometimes happened in the past when we were evidently not addressing
the appropriate group.
I agree that your operational issues of problems with current systems
come first. However, it would be helpful to hear from you with your
best guess at when you can help.
Ted suggests that I tell you the reason this request
is critical. The current reason is a request from the student
services team. They need this information to complete the programming
for the pre-registration application. They are planning a pilot of this
project in March. They have been asking the warehouse team for this
information for months and marked it critical a couple of weeks ago.
This is not the first request to the warehouse team for this
information. And in the past the warehouse team has received other
one time feeds of the Moira data from people who could
take a few minutes to help out in an emergency. But one time
feeds age and become useless over time. Therefore we hope that
some time soon we can get the daily/nightly feeds set up and
get out of this request loop.
It is particularly disconcerting when someone from IS asks for this
data from the warehouse group and upon finding it not available indicates
that that is not a problem because they can get it from Moira. I would
hope that setting up the feed to the warehouse would over time relieve
your group from one time requests.
This request was not meant to imply that you are not busy with other
important and possibly more important work. Furthermore I know that I
find it irritating to be told how to avoid a problem I do not think
I have. Please accept my apology for my inept e-mail and believe that
my intention was not to insult you.
I look forward to hearing when you may be able to help the warehouse
team with this feed.
Regards
Susan
