Project name: Technical Product Management and Tracking

Report date: 02/05/2003
Submitted by: Brian Murphy
Web URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/assetmanage
Accomplishments past period:
Performed in-depth process reviews for each Line of Business
Identified potential SAP Modules to be used
Produced proof-of-concept application for Laptop loaner Business
Updated Project Co-Sponsors on progress and direction
Began constructing first draft of Discovery Report
Goals for the coming period:
Complete Discovery Report
Review Discovery Report with all Stakeholders
Submit Discovery Report
Next community milestone:
Response of Co-Sponsors to Discovery Report
Issues:
Funding for Programming resources may need to be identified to
move project into Delivery. The name of the project is in flux caused by
the concern that the use of Asset Management may create confusion with the
Property Office.
Key learnings:
SAP can provide the solutions to the stated needs of Both Hardware
Services and Software Libraries. The solution provided will be the
foundation for many other areas within and external to IS. Additional
Phases of the Delivery Project will be recommended to realize the full
benefit of SAP.
Team dynamics:
The team has done an outstanding job in conducting the process
reviews and identifying alternate approaches. The FSS/IS combination has
led to heightened awareness on both sides of the others organization and
services.
Additional comments:
None.
