Project Name: Facilities-MIS Strategic Planning
Project Leaders: Anne Whealan, Tim McGovern
Report Date: Mar. 10, 1999
Project Notebook: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/plant-sp/

Accomplishments past period
- Reviewed final report with Facilities' Strategic Leadership Team (SLT)
- Reviewed final report with Facilities' Operational Leadership Team (OLT)
- Reviewed drafts in the planning team of some new sections for the report
that address defects identified by sponsor.

Note: the SLT and OLT find the report to be flawed in major and different
ways.

Goals for the coming period
- Continue to write/edit sections of the report to address the report's
   defects.
- Continuation of discussions with SLT and OLT.

Issues
- Nothing new this fortnight.

Key learnings
- Don't present a plan that calls for increases in funding, and person
effort,
in the same meeting where the FY2000 budget decisions were being discussed.
It makes for a kinda unfriendly reception.
- Don't let any planning effort take longer than the shortest attention span
of the folks you're going to ask for approval. You run the risk of having
them change their minds about what's important.

Team dynamics
- As I reported last time, the team is tired. I think we share the desire
to complete the report, but finding a substantive compromise may be elusive.

Additional comments
- The end (of something) is in sight.
