Accomplishments past period:
Due to team absences, little was accomplished in July, so this report
covers July and August
* Met with Sprint, AT&T, Verizon about business dialup, 800 #'s,
PCS modem cards
* Drafted guide to high speed service providers
* Received additional survey data and data on peer institutions
* Determined that we are not aware of any MIT resources that
require a net 18. address
* Worked on Kerb 5 and NAT issues
* Got data on usage of MIT Calling Card and tether; used to
compare rates of various options
* Determined that we'd like iPass to be our recommendation to the
MIT Community
* Continued work on report
* Talked with JDB, Jeff Schiller, Nate re: iPass
* Jeff met with iPass and approved it's security, privacy,
technical implementations
Goals for the coming period:
* Present to ITAG
* Present to selected Support & Service TL's
* Begin review of legal documents
* Advance the work on web page of high speed providers
* Tested various installers and dialers, tested iPass dialer
* Talk to various members of ITLT for their input
* Move written report forward
Next community milestone: Release of recommendations
Issues: No one company/product will do everything we want
Key learnings:
Team dynamics: Although we appear to have lost one team member, the
team works very well together. Additional comments:
