They also provided TSM UNIX software license pricing as well as RS6000 hardware costs. - Created TSM UNIX Discovery web page. - Revised and published initial TSM to UNIX Discovery project plan. - Contacted TSM support at Princeton U. They are about 1 year ahead of us in terms of transitioning TSM from VM to Sun Solaris. Learning from their experience could/would be very helpful. A possible meeting is in the works. - Coordinated/shared information with VMSST regarding TSM hardware/software costs as VMSST looks at upgrading VM hardware. TSM UNIX costs and the cost savings associated with special bids for hardware/software on VM with and without TSM could significantly impact timeline of TSM migration to UNIX effort. Goals for next period: - Refine and understand hardware/software cost issues. - Align and compare multiple hardware platforms costs - Cost out VM and UNIX software scenerios Issues: - Outcome of VMSST mainframe upgrade could impact outcome of this project.
