Accomplishments of the past period:
*Met with John Curry and ASPCC to clarify issues and direction.
*Conducted a focus group disccusion with *mg.
*Met with Diana Strange to discuss concerns of the Alumni Association.
*Conduct a focus group with the web publishers. (28 September)
*Continued calls to peer institutions including a discussion with Harvard
regarding student-run businesses in dormitories.
*Raised issues at Random Faculty Dinner.
Goals for next period:
*Conduct a focus group with MIT merchants. (29 September)
*Meet with membes of the Faculty and CET.
*Finalize data collection.
*Complete matrix of peer institutions.
*Begin the variance analysis exercise mapping current policies to
issues.
*Begin drafting recommendations.
Key Learnings:
*Any recommendation that says MIT should not allow advertising will
have a
big impact on the Alumni Association who feel they need to accept
advertising/sponsorship to make up for lower funding from the Intstitute.
We will need a communication plan to inform members of the governance
board.
*John Curry suggests that we create an array matching the issues we
have outlined against current policies and then doing a variance
analysis.This
seems like a very concrete way to proceed. It will help focus our discussions.
Team Dynamics:
Excellent. We have the necessary skills on the team.
