Project Name: EHSS - Environmental Health & Safety Management System
Project Leader: Rob Smyser, Rocklyn Clarke
Report Date May 24, 2000

Accomplishments past period:
- met with EMAX technical architect 5/16 to discuss their purchasing
authorizations technology versus ours. Lorraine Rappaport, Deborah Ellis
of Procurement, Jim Repa also attended. Solid meeting.
- Second pass at refining underlying data model with Scott and the team.
Having the model on hand was very useful in the meeting above.
Goals for the coming period:
- Complete a functional description for the project as we know it today.
- Have a conversation with Susan Azary re integration perspective (esp now
that we're nearly finished with conceptual data modelling).
- Assemble more design details to support ballpark cost estimates, esp on
the on-line curriculum stuff. Meeting with Katie Livingston and/or Mike
Barker of the EMCC is being arranged.
- being to prepare for a ExecVP/Provost/Chancellor level presentation to
occur in late June.
Issues:
Nothing new at the moment
Key learnings:
- EMAX's Reagant Manager seems to be an extensible product built on open
architectures like those MIT uses. Certificates, for instance, were not an
issue. Very encouraging. We're may be able to tie it in to existing ECAT
infrastructure.
- Turns out also that the VWR stockroom on campus is using the other EMAX
product, StockRoom Manager I think it's called,
Team dynamics:
All is well.
