Accomplishments past period:
- Installed Oracle database on test server and started up Spatial Database Engine.
- Started loading test data. Worked with Arcview interface.
- Started to look into survey and other processes to measure interest in spatial data.
Goals for the coming period:
- Write a survey to determine present needs and past search and access methods for spatial data to determine scope of interest in GIS and spatial data.
- Setup a Crosstalk forum or focus groups to determine what the most interested faculty are looking for in GIS support and a spatial data service. Develop a propotype server as a starting point.
- Continue to load data for a prototype server.
Issues:
- None.
Key learnings:
- Know the available technology before starting a Discovery project.
Team dynamics:
- Everyone is starting to contribute more fully (intellectually) to the team.
Cheers,
Daniel
