Accomplishments past period:
- Developed longer list of metadata tools to evaluate. Continued looking at
tools and decided that a detailed review is necessary.
- Newest version of Oracle installed on test server.
- Worked on communication issues and web pages.
Goals for the coming period:
- Find experienced metadata developer to help test metadata tools.
- Install Oracle database on test server and start up the Spatial Database
Engine.
- Design a test database and start to load data. Finally.
- Continue investigating best practices in peer institutions. Look into site
visits (virtually for those far away ones). Contact Harvard Geodesy staff to
arrange a site visit and discuss our common issues.
Issues:
- Still working on team building.
Key learnings:
- Team members have other important obligations that are getting in the way of
our project. I would rather retain staff who are interested and committed
rather than find other people with other important obligations.
Team dynamics:
- Sill working with Tom Grayson to find some help with his end of the project
so he can concentrate on his academic duties. Unfortunately our meeting was
cancelled. We will meet on Friday to consider this. I believe we could find
another member who is more experienced with metadata to carry that part of the
project forward.
- Things worked out well with the over commited team member and we again are
moving forward.
