Accomplishments past period:
- Developed an understanding of SDE (GIS) side of the software. Loaded
some data and retrieved the data via Arcview GIS interface.
- Looked at metadata to MARC converter.
- Started a search for peer institutions' spatial data solutions.
Goals for the coming period:
- Set up test server, install Oracle and SDE.
- Design a test database and start to load data.
- Continue investigating best practices in peer institutions.
- Continue working with metadata developers and converters.
- Investigate whether we can load MARC data (from metadata converter) into
the "test" Barton catalog.
Issues:
- Nothing immediately. Long term issue of design of system will come up
soon, perhaps in the next report.
Key learnings:
- The project is complex but there is strong interest in finding good
solutions.
Team dynamics:
- Nothing to report.
Additional comments:
- None
Cheers,
Daniel
