Accomplishments past period:
- Extension and refinement of the Business Model
- Met with Integration team, which raised some issues re
architecture and fee structure
- Clarified our own understanding of issues re mobile
computing and connecting from off-campus via something
like MediaOne; this is not a show-stopper
- Decided to proceed with public cluster rollout of 10 Standard
Linux Athena machines in W20 during IAP, but not
yet market the Layered product as IS-Supported until
everyone is satisfied with the locker software
solution; we'll collect data in the mean time
using the Athena Software Wrapper on where Maple and
Matlab are being used
Goals for the coming period:
- Meet with our sponsor (Vijay) to talk about alignment between
his ideas and the directions we've been following
- Do some more analysis re the interaction of fee structure,
support costs of Standard and Layered Athena, and the need
to balance the budget
- Incorporate some of the latest discussion and thinking into
the next draft of the report
