I thought some of you might be interested in this new use for scanning
technologies. I'm not sure if this would be applicable in all of your
projects, but I believe the principles stated could be leveraged in many
different settings.
My thanks to Oliver for his initiative and responsiveness to this
new situation.

>>scanner in N42-140MM: 5 slices of Hard Salami
>>
>>While the imaging of organic materials is not expressly prohibited, please
>>observe the following guidelines when scanning items which may leave a
>>residue, fatty or otherwise, on the glass:
>>
>>1. Consider patting items with paper towel before placing on scanner to
>> remove excess grease. This is especially advised for scanning meat
>> products of any kind, and for the digitizing of pizza pies.
>>
>>3. Note that some foods do not react well to the heat generated by the
>> scanner bulb. It is recommended that cheese and chocolate products be
>> placed in freezer for no fewer than fifteen minutes before scanning to
>> avoid dissolution.
>>
>>2. Use window cleaner, monitor wipes, or lens cloth to remove fatty
>> residue from glass after scanning is complete. For tomato sauce or
>> olive oil residue remaining on optical glass a large piece of white
>> bread may also be used.
>>
>>4. True for all scanning projects but particularly those involving meat:
>> Remember to remove originals when done! They can attract bears.
>>
>>If a work in progress was interrupted by the removal of the items in
>>question, our sincere apologies. The five slices of salami have been
>>placed in an envelope labeled "Original Documents" and placed in the
>>first floor refrigerator.
>>
>>Thank you for your cooperation.
