Project Name: Enterprise Printing
Project Leader: Dave Lambert
Report Date: 09/09/1999
Project Notebook: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/enter-print/
Accomplishments for the past period:
- held a very productive discovery closure & delivery ramp-up
meeting with sponsors and process leaders; delivery resource
commitments were obtained and an October delivery start date was set
- several discussions were held to secure delivery resources
- RFS was finalized and two vendors were requested to submit proposals;
one bid was received and one is due in tomorrow
- drafted an executive project summary
- a meeting was held with Chuck Shaw of FSS; he agreed to accept
ownership of several recommendations; a similar meeting was held
with Roger Roach to secure his buy-in; see the following URL for
all distributed printing recommendations:
http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/enter-print/recsver3.html
- secured Jeff Schiller's cooperation to draft a policy statement
regarding security and network based printing under ITIT
- CAO began testing the new HP printer; no production reports to date
though
Goals for the coming period:
- continue to work with CAO to produce the first production reports
on the HP printer
- meet with Rob Symser and Bill Hogue regarding their potential
ownership of several recommendations
- finalize the executive project summary
- schedule meeting with GartnerGroup for a face-to-face technology
watch discussion
- determine if we want to move forward with the RFS bids or simply
use a discussion with Gartner for the technology watch deliverable
- meet with Debra Wiley to explain the need for increased Q&A testing
of locally written SAP reports on the recommended desktop printers
- hold a discovery project closure discussion with Greg
Issues:
We're winding down. Only a few items remain before we're officially
done. Therefore, we'll probably produce only one additional status
report in early October.

Team dynamics:
I guess we need to prepare for a final team hug... ;-)
