There is a kerberized telnet that comes with Cygnus Network Security (CNS)
distribution of Kerberos for Windows.
See http://www.cygnus.com/product/cns/sources.html for information on how
to obtain a copy of the CNS distribution. You'll have to print, complete
and fax the "Cygnus Network Security CNS (V4) Package Request Form" back
to Cygnus before they will release the ftp site for the "C" source code
for Kerberos. The Windows binaries are available at the ftp site as well.
Only Kv4 is available; the CNS v5 has not been released for the public
yet (you can get the v5 Windows version if you want to pay CNS for tech
support).
A kerberized telnet for Windows is all fine and dandy but we cannot get
the kinit for Windows working so telnet for us is moot. We've configured
the machines according to the documentation but keep getting a "send_to_kdc:
retry count exceeded" error which indicates the Windows client isn't reaching
the KDC for some reason. However the initialization request is showing up
in the /usr/kerberos/database/kerberos.log log file. We thought we had a
timing problem but client and server are within the requisite 5 minutes of
each other. We thought we had a timezone problem but this too is configured
correctly.
If you've got your Windows kinit working and can provide some insight on
how to get mine up and running I'd appreciate the feedback.
