No documents yet, people are just beginning to think about it.  The
solution to this problem is to stop encoding the 32 bit (4 byte)
number 0x12345678 as the string "0x12345678 ", which is a 4 to 11
expansion.  (Yes, this really is the current encoding, I'm not
kidding.)
