slackware 2.1 (though i doubt anything remains of this, kernel version is
1.99.7, libs are up to date, I have libgdbm (though its not found and
adding -lgdbm doesn't help)

I downloaded a binary library of libdbm from redhat, installed it into
place but ldconfig wouldn't see it.. (so i gave up on it)
ldconfig does see gdbm..

I believe so.. (some might be static.. depending on whats hanging around,
the key ones are shared)
I have libdb.so.2 (i needed it to compile sendmail 8.7.5) however,
ldconfig doesn't recognize it as a valid library, go figure!! (maybe i
need to upgrade ldconfig)

Beta 5 compiled cleanly on my elf system, as soon as i moved to elf, it
stopped...
I can however, force kinit (and the other clients to compile..)
Thanx!!
