The Electronic Frontier Foundation (eff.org) has quite a bit of
excellent information on the legal and intellectual rights issues,
both domestic and international (see "www.eff.org"). They have
transcripts of some of the testimony from last year's hearings on
crypto export laws; part of this addresses monetary losses to U.S.
companies.
