I need a 'good' scripting language to help customize our AFS drive mapping
on windows (both w9x and nt/2k). In the past I have used rexx (regina) to
look at the tokens held by the cache manager, parse the output to find who
the current authenticated AFS users is, the rewrite the afsdbmnt.ini file
to point directly to the AFS home space.
Win2k breaks rexx in certain ways that I don't care to find out exactly
why or fix it. Ergo, time to re-script.
a 'good' script language would need a good parsing command syntax and be
able to issue system calls to the os read/write files, map drives, etc.
I would really like to avoid visual basic. I was thinking of python but
it's kind of a big interpreter to use. I am curious what others are doing
to customize AFS on windoze machines.
It would really be nice if this were 'built in' to AFS. I really hate to
map a drive to our AFS root then have them step through 12 levels of
directory hierarchy before they get their home space...
