For a few weeks, the folks in my lab have been noticing that when they
type the erase key, it looks like nothing is happening.
I recalled that I had replaced Sun's /bin/login and /usr/etc/in.rlogind
with the AFS versions. Sure enough, the AFS programs effectively do a
"stty -echoe -echoctl -echoke -tabs". It's easy to work around, since
we already have a common login file sourced by all the users. I just
added "stty sane" to the file, and we're back in business.
Just pointing it out, wondering why it works this way, and wondering
whether anyone out there has handled this one a little bit differently
than I did.
