You want your volumes to be as small as is reasonable, because they
are the atomic unit of backup, replication, and administration. If
you want to move a 100MB volume, you need to find 100meg free in one
piece on another partition, which may be hard to do.
most importantly, if you want to restore a 200Mb volume without
displacing the current copy then you have to have the 200Mb *extra* to
accommodate the restored copy ...
