there should not be any problem with this. I have installed an AFS server
on a Sun3, which for historical reasons ( it will soon be replaced ) is
booted over the network from an NFS server and has its root partition on
this this server, but the local AFS binaries on its local disk. So the
only way actually was to use a double symbolic link, and it works!!!
