I have a couple of questions about how AFS is being used and would be
interested in hearing people's experiences.

Are any of you using AFS to share core operating system files, such as
libraries, commands, shells and similar things from /usr? I'm only talking
about sharing things that are not needed for boot up between systems of the
same architecture and OS.

If any of you are doing this, what have been your experiences in doing so?
What are some of the issues you have encountered? What happens when it comes
time to update the OS to a new revision? What sorts of rules have you
developed internally to deal with the problems that come from sharing OS
files?

I know that some AFS sites specifically do not share OS files to avoid
stranding workstations in the case of network or server failures. However, I
suspect other folks might have experimented with sharing OS files to save on
disk space and I am very interested in their experiences.

Any comments you care to share on this subject would be most welcome.
