I sent mail recently telling you about an area for AFS users to share
tools, programs, hints, and information related to AFS. This area is
/afs/transarc.com/public/afs-contrib. I have been asked about providing
anonymous ftp access. We do not provide anonymous ftp access to the
transarc.com cell, so what we have done is mounted the volume in the
grand.central.org cell in an area that is accessible via anonymous ftp.
This is the directory /afs/grand.central.org/pub/afs-contrib.
To access this via anonymous ftp, ftp to grand.central.org (IP address
192.54.226.100) and log in as ``anonymous'', giving your
name/affiliation as a password. You'll find yourself sitting in the
equivalent of the /afs/grand.central.org AFS directory. You can cd
into pub/afs-contrib and have access to those things that are accessible
to system:anyuser.
There is a limit of three concurrent anonymous FTP connections to
grand.central.org, so if you can't get on right away, please keep trying
until you grab a slot.
NOTE: There may be directories in the afs-contrib area that are not
accessible via anonymous ftp. Typically, these are available to people
who have AFS authentication accounts in the transarc.com cell. If you
don't have Internet access and would like to see these files, contact
Transarc via your site's AFS contact and we will try to make alternative
arrangements.
