As a new feature at this fall's AFS Users Group meeting, we are
planning to host "Bird of a Feather" sessions. A BOF is an informal
meeting where people interested in some topic can get together and
exchange experiences, hints, opinions, war-stories, and whatever. At
many conferences BOFs are organized solely by messages scrawled on a
whiteboard on the convention floor. This year we have reserved a room
at the Sheraton Hotel from 7PM each evening especially for BOF
sessions. The room can be split, so two sessions can run
concurrently.
Since these sessions are supposed to be extremely informal and
spontaneous, we won't impose pre-planning on the BOFs. We'll probably
do scheduling by the whiteboard method, as a matter of fact. But---we
would like an idea of what people are interested in talking about.
Anyone interested in organizing a BOF, or with a suggestion for a
topic, please send mail to "nydick@psc.edu". No obligation, no
salesman will call!
