It sure sounds like a networking problem, and not an AFS problem, from
your description. Why do you think it's an AFS problem?

Are all your windows on remote machines running xterm & telnet?

What window manager?

Why do you think the remote applications ``eventually disconnect and
disappear''?

When you say that etherfind says that an AFS file server is
``continuously'' attempting to send you UDP packets that you're not
responding to, how frequent are the ``continuous'' packets? One every 5
seconds? 50 per second?

		Thanks,
		Craig
