Hi, Richard. This is a bit of a guess, but I seem to recall that the current Linux implementation
for Hesiod can use class IN records in the DNS, and FreeBSD uses class HS (as in the original
implementation).
As a historical note, Project Athena originally did a new class (HS) for Hesiod because
(1) it was an easy way to keep from confusing the IN class in the early DNS code, and
(2) no one had yet figured out what classes were really useful for. But the distinction lingers
on in code.
