Report Date: August 8, 2002
After a long hiatus, we restarted the project to redesign the MIT Home
Page. The new web site will maintain its clean and uncluttered look, it
will prominently display the new MIT identity, and continue to use a
changing graphic selected to support a feature story. The project sponsors
are Kathryn Willmore and Jim Bruce.
Accomplishments during last period:

- Sent an RFP to 5 design firms
- Selected Pentagram to design the site
- Invited and constituted a core team including Susan Curran (WCS) and Tim
Blackburn (PSB)
- Invited and constituted a small team of consultants to the core team
- Invited and constituted an Advisory Board
- Met twice with Pentagram to discuss design
- Hosted a meeting between the designers and 12 communicators at MIT
Goals for next period:

- Design presentation by the designers
- Get initial feedback from the Usability team
- Present the design to the sponsors for their initial feedback
- Continue to develop concepts with the designers for the new page
Next community milestone:

- Public implementation in early October 2002
