Accomplishments for April 2003
Events Calendar
* *Community Milestone: *Completed the initial release of the Events
Calendar for use by outside not-for-profit educational
institutions and MIT internal users. Announced the availability of
the code to MIT users who had previously expressed interest.
* Todd and Tom did documentation and preparation work for Events
Calendar rollout. This included:
o Finishing documentation files
o Finishing Oracle SQL scripts to create and populate the
initial database schema
o Preparing a tarball of the code and related files
o Creating secure web locations for distibuting the software
that support either MIT certificates or usernames with
passwords.
* Todd worked on statistics digesting and handling for Events Calendar.
* Todd handled the usual assortment of Events Calendar help and
customer issues, including a rather major mess involving ownership
of some events by the MIT Community Players.
* Todd and Tom researched and diagnosed a problem with importing
events with start dates containing two-digit years into the Calendar.
Physical Education Lottery
* Jennifer (with Sabari Nair) installed the PE lottery application
to a new Windows XP machine in the Department of Athletics,
Physical Education, and Recreation and moved the original PE
lottery database from an old machine to the new machine.
Coeus (Jennifer)
* Fixed technical reporting bug in delta report.
* Fixed problem while submitting a proposal for approval.
General
* Todd moved to N42 from W92, improving his productivity and working
conditions tremendously.
* Todd did some research work for Rolesweb expansion project.
* Todd attended the initial meeting for Discussion List Discovery
project, plus did some research into existing message-board and
discussion-list software as charged, with more to come.
* Tom joined the Knowledge Base Discovery project.
* Tom met with Ginny Williams to discuss writing a service level
agreement for EAST.
Goals for the Coming Period
* More work on the Events Calendar.
* Progress on the Parking Web project.
* Application documentation.
Next Community Milestones
* The next packaged release of the Events Calendar application.
Learnings
* Sometimes it's not easy to give something away.
