Perhaps a carefully hidden camera--one of those pinhole wide-angle cameras
in a wall--which can be set to activate if any motion is detected.
Even easier, a camera attached to the main Internet computer...nothing
unusual in this, and any intrusion team must be able to disable such a
camera without the very act of disabling being detected. Kind of hard to do
this, I would think.
Then the video can be made available on the Web, live.
With some sort of announcement sent out to mailing lists. Or perhaps even
to special sites which develop specifically to monitor for such intrusions.
Something like:
---

From: joe@user.net
Subject: ALERT -- Intruders in my office
An intrusion into my office has been detected.
Video at http://www.instrusion-video.joe.net
---
If the message takes too many minutes to propagate, at least a continuous
loop can be viewed. Whatever.
Seeing the BATFags and Feebies sneaking into a private home, with no
presentation of a warrant, might be newsworthy.
Not as newsworthy, of course, as a countdown on-screen saying "Keep
watching. In 18 seconds the boobytraps will be sprung and these intruders
will be incinerated live, online, realtime."
But the Fedz have outlawed such boobtraps, so goodthinking sheeple would
never think of doing such a thing.
Much as I dislike much of what David Brin blathers about, credit goes to
him for popularizing the notion that cameras will be ubiquitous tools for
exposing cops. The Rodney King tape is obviously an example.
I'll leave it at this. There are the usual issues of preventing false
alarms, of preventing the system from being turned on by the spies, getting
the signal out to the Internet when an intrusion is occurring, and so on.
