Another quickie on levels of telco service

I can't agree about the level of service.  Today, thanks to the market
being more open for telcos, I'm able to pick a long distance carrier
who gives me free calls every month for selected political, social, and
environmental concerns.  

Moreover, they tell me how my senators and representatives vote on certain
issues of interest.

All of this and clear phone calls, an ability to call anywhere from anywhere
without any money at hand (phone card), and cheap rates make for a model
that I doubt ever existed twenty years ago.

(The phone company is Working Assets Long Distance, incidentally.)
